Volunteer

Volunteering for the Guild

Volunteers play a vital role at the Guild. Some of the ways in which volunteers help provide a link between Guild staff and persons receiving services, and also help visually impaired people enjoy fuller and more independent lives are to:

Read newspapers and books to groups or to individuals
Help with arts and crafts: ceramics, knitting, crocheting and sewing groups
Offer music appreciation and music instruction
Lead literature, drama, exercise and dance workshops
Assist in letter writing, filling out business forms and the paying of bills
Assist with Guild clerical work, including mailings

Volunteers are always needed at the Guild in Manhattan. Other locations that rely on volunteers are GuildCare, located in New York City, Yonkers, Albany, Buffalo, and Niagara Falls.
